From Comfort Zones to New Adventures: My Decision to Move to the USA

After completing my PhD in Japan, I found myself at a crossroads. I had spent years studying and researching in my field, but I wasn’t sure what my next step should be. I had always been fascinated by the United States and its culture, and I decided that it was time for a change. Here are some of the reasons why I decided to leave Japan and move to the USA after finishing my PhD.

  1. Professional Opportunities

One of the main reasons I decided to move to the USA was the abundance of professional opportunities. The United States is home to some of the world’s top universities and research institutions, and I knew that I could continue to grow and develop my career here. I was also excited about the prospect of working with some of the brightest minds in my field and collaborating on cutting-edge research projects.

  1. Cultural Diversity

Another factor that drew me to the USA was its cultural diversity. Having lived in Japan for a long time, I was looking for a change of pace and a new cultural experience. I had always been interested in learning about different cultures and ways of life, and I knew that the USA would provide me with a rich and varied experience. From the bustling cities to the quiet countryside, there is so much to explore and discover in this country.

  1. Personal Growth

Moving to the USA was also an opportunity for personal growth. I knew that I would be stepping out of my comfort zone and facing new challenges, but I was excited about the prospect of learning and growing as a person. I was also looking forward to meeting new people and making new friends, and I knew that this would be an important part of my journey.

  1. Adventure

Finally, I was drawn to the USA because of the sense of adventure that it offered. I knew that there would be plenty of opportunities to explore new places, try new things, and have new experiences. Whether it was hiking in the mountains, exploring a new city, or trying a new cuisine, I was excited about the prospect of embarking on new adventures.

In conclusion, leaving Japan and moving to the USA after completing my PhD was a decision that I made after careful consideration. I was drawn to the country by its professional opportunities, cultural diversity, potential for personal growth, and sense of adventure. While it was a big decision to make, I am glad that I took the leap and embarked on this new chapter in my life.
