Role: Engineering Lead / Programme Director · Domain: Digital Health, IoT, Cloud
HeartVoice began as an internal concept inside Omron Healthcare and became a $16M digital-health business. I led the engineering build-out from the earliest architecture decisions through ISO 13485 regulatory clearance, clinical validation studies, and commercial launch across Asia-Pacific.
The platform connected consumer blood pressure monitors to a cloud-based cardiac monitoring service, enabling cardiologists and patients to co-manage hypertension remotely. The technical challenge was building a medical-grade IoT pipeline that could handle millions of device readings, maintain clinical data integrity, and satisfy regulators across Singapore, Japan, Hong Kong, and Thailand simultaneously.
Inventor / Lead Researcher
Applying machine learning to continuous physiological sensor data — moving healthcare monitoring from threshold-based alerts to predictive, personalised health intelligence.
Lead Engineer / Inventor
Advancing miniaturisation of biological sensing platforms — making clinical-grade measurement accessible outside hospital settings, targeting emerging markets with limited infrastructure.
Engineering Lead
Design and deployment of consumer-grade IoT devices connected to cloud monitoring platforms — blood pressure, ECG, and multi-parameter sensors — for chronic disease management across APAC.
Innovator / Programme Lead
Expanding the interoperability of medical-grade devices into the wider digital health ecosystem — integrating with telemedicine platforms, mobile health applications, enterprise cloud infrastructure, and B2B digital health solution providers. The goal is a connected layer where a clinically validated device is not a standalone product but a trusted data source within any digital health workflow, globally.
Researcher (First Author) · SOKENDAI / Institute of Molecular Science
Doctoral research in fabricating supported lipid bilayer biosensors using synchrotron radiation etching and femtosecond laser ablation. Designed microelectrode substrates at nanometre tolerances for studying biological membrane response to chemical and electrical stimuli.
Research Engineer · NUS / A*STAR / Duke-NUS
Designed and built custom instruments for neuroscience labs — an optogenetic stimulation and ion-channel recording platform for zebrafish, and behavioural assay systems for studying learning and memory circuits in Drosophila. End-to-end: optics, electronics, firmware, software.
Author / First Author
Peer-reviewed papers in Current Biology, Japanese Journal of Applied Physics, IEEE Sensors Journal, Chemical Physics Letters, Nanomedicine, and SPIE Proceedings. Spanning biosensors, neuroscience, microfabrication, and applied AI.
Engineering Lead / Architecture Owner
Cloud-native data platform handling millions of patient device readings across Singapore, Japan, Hong Kong, Thailand. Real-time telemetry processing, clinical data integrity, multi-jurisdiction compliance (PDPA, PIPA, HIPAA-aligned), and B2B API integrations.
Engineering Lead
End-to-end pipeline for AI-assisted health diagnostics — from sensor data ingestion through feature engineering, model inference, clinical output formatting, and physician review workflow. 17+ AI and data POCs shipped to production in regulated healthcare environments.
Lead Engineer / Designer
Built a vehicle tracking system for Bangladesh's infrastructure-limited environment using SMS-based data transmission — functioning wherever cellular text reached when mobile data did not. A constraint-driven innovation that worked in the actual operating environment.
Builder / Operator
Running personal AI agent infrastructure to stay close to production failure modes. Suite of autonomous agents for research, financial intelligence, and DevOps automation. Running this personally teaches what enterprise AI actually needs — not what polished demos suggest.
